Treatment Questions

What age ranges do you work with?
I typically work with adults but have experience with adolescents and children.
Do you work with women? Men? Couples?
I work with women and men, as well as couples.
What do you actually do in sessions with clients?
I listen to the issue that brings you to therapy and the goals you describe, then work with you to develop a plan to get you from point A to point B, providing education and skills along the way so you are less likely to travel back to point A.
Do your clients receive assignments to work on between sessions?
Only stubborn clients receive homework. Just kidding. If practicing the skills we work on in session will help you reach your goals faster, homework typically involves putting what we worked on to practical use.
What modalities do you use in your client work?
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is typically where I start. I also use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Solution-Focused Therapy. I’ve used Exposure Response Prevention for some OCD issues as well.
What is your professional training and experience?
I attended graduate school at Capella University while stationed in Japan. I studied EMDR with Compassion Works and received my certification in 2022.
What else does a client need to know to make the most out of working with you?
I do not have all the answers. I do not have a magic wand (I accidentally broke it in my last move). You feeling safe to say what you want is what’s most important to me.
