Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Trauma is challenging to process.

Some trauma stays with you long after the traumatic event. When it persists, it can impact you emotionally and physically.

Everything might seem alright, and suddenly, you experience something that makes it seem you are reliving that traumatic event. It is like living in a never-ending cycle that impacts your thoughts, dreams, and well-being.

Persistent trauma can impact all aspects of your life, making it challenging to have meaningful relationships and increasing the likelihood of avoiding situations that might make you relive that event.

Helping your brain process past trauma is not always easy, and without help, it can remain, causing you to relive that event repeatedly.

EMDR may be the help you need.

EMDR is a structured, evidence-based therapeutic approach designed to help people heal from trauma and distressing life experiences. It works by assisting the brain process and reframe difficult memories so they no longer feel overwhelming or emotionally triggering.

During EMDR sessions, the therapist guides you through sets of bilateral stimulation, often involving eye movements, tapping, or sounds, while you recall specific memories.

This process allows the brain to integrate these experiences more healthily, reducing emotional intensity and promoting lasting healing.

EMDR is especially effective for PTSD, anxiety, and other trauma-related issues, and many people report feeling significant relief after just a few sessions.

EMDR therapy is a safe, structured process.

As a therapist trained in EMDR, I will be your guide throughout the process. Our sessions will begin by building trust, discussing your history, and identifying specific memories or experiences to target. You’ll also learn calming techniques and grounding tools to prepare you emotionally.

During the reprocessing phase, I will guide you through sets of bilateral stimulation while you briefly focus on a specific memory. You won’t need to go into every detail of the experience; instead, the goal is to allow your brain to process and reframe the memory more adaptively.

Sessions typically end with a check-in and grounding, helping you leave feeling supported and stable. EMDR can be emotionally intense, but it’s also deeply empowering and often leads to meaningful breakthroughs over time.

Don’t let trauma keep you from moving on with your life. I have seen many clients overcome trauma’s hold on them after EMDR therapy. Contact me today for more information about EMDR. I am here to take this journey with you, step by step.
