Anxiety, Depression, & Bipolar

You cannot escape from crippling fear or disabling sadness.

The pain of this is real. The inability to manage when or where these feelings hit you and become overwhelming often leads you to isolate or remove yourself from enjoyable activities and events.

Nothing helps these days, and your depression is getting worse. You may ask yourself, “Why can’t I just get over this?”

Depression (major depressive disorder) is not always easy to overcome. It is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think, and how you act. It causes sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease your ability to function at work and home.

Fortunately, depression is treatable. Reaching out for help can also lead to feelings of sadness or overwhelm. I understand and can help you find real relief.

Life is full of emotional highs and lows.

Some say you are moody, often between being exhilarated with life and feeling hopeless. When feeling up, you are confident, highly active, sleep less, and full of thoughts racing through your head. Then, the low period hits, causing you to feel depressed, lack interest in everything, and find it hard to think about the future.

What you are experiencing may be an indicator of bipolar disorder (formerly called manic-depression), which is a mental illness that causes apparent shifts in a person’s mood, energy, activity levels, and concentration.

People with bipolar disorder often experience periods of feeling significantly “up,” elated, irritable, or energized behavior (known as manic episodes) and very “down,” sad, indifferent, or hopeless periods (known as depressive episodes).

You might think, “My life is like an emotional rollercoaster that never stops. How can I get off?” Fortunately, therapy, along with medication, can help you manage symptoms.

Edgy best describes you.

This sense of restlessness makes it difficult to feel calm. You constantly feel tense and worried, making concentrating and sleeping difficult. How you think is not a passing thing but something you cannot seek to overcome.

What you are experiencing sounds like anxiety disorder, which differs from normal feelings of nervousness or anxiousness and involves excessive fear or anxiety.

Anxiety disorders are the most common of mental disorders and affect nearly 30 percent of adults at some point in their lives. However, anxiety disorders are treatable, and several effective treatments are available. Treatment helps most people lead productive lives every day.
